Performing Arts

Performing arts are those forms of art where the artist is part of the performance. Unlike arts where the artist uses material like clay, paint, metal, etc. in the case of performing arts, the artists uses his or her own body, face or presence as part of the art. Examples of performing art include music, dance, theatre, magic, acrobatics, juggling, films, martial arts, busking, marching bands, etc.
Some of the performing arts that are popular around the world are discussed below:
Music: Music is perhaps the most universal of all performing arts. Music may be divided into two distinct categories. The first category is music performance, which involves performing for an audience with one’s instrument or voice. The second category of music is music education, which involves study and training in various field of music including instruments, history, composition, etc.
Theatre: Theatre is the art of acting out a plot line to an audience using speech, stance, gesture, voice, body language, music, dance and spectacle. The form of theatre has evolved dramatically over the ages and now encompasses ballet, opera, mime, classical dances, etc.
Dance: Dance is a form of art that involves using movement of one’s own body to provide aesthetic pleasure to an audience. It is often considered as a form of non-verbal communication where body language gains more importance than spoken language. A dance may be a part of a social setting, but may also be a huge aspect of spiritual expression.
